In Year 2 we consolidate all of the amazing learning the children have done so far in school as the end their Key Stage One journey. We teach the children writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar (ESPG), mathematics, phonics, science, history, geography, computing, Personal health social and emotional education (PHSE), physical education (PE) and religious education. We also include Design and Technology, Art and Music into our curriculum!
The children work so incredibly hard in Year 2 as we have such a packed timetable. This allows us to prepare the children for the KS1 SATS (which are national standardised tests in Maths, Reading and Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) at the end of the year. These tests assess whether the children are working at National Age Related Expectations.
Below are the termly topics for the children in both Baloo and Bagheera classes. The topic on the left is our Science focus for each term and the topic on the right is our History/Geography focus. These topics become part of everything we do during the term and link to our English and reading lessons and all other areas of the curriculum.

Term 2: Everyday Materials / Where in the world
Term 3: Move it / Communication now and then
